share the road
The Central Kentucky Wheelmen are working with the Elizabethtown City Planning department to make the roads safer for bicyclists by promoting awareness through the Share the Road Program. We seek the placement of the big yellow Share the Road signs along all the major roads in and around Elizabethtown. This is both a philanthropic and advocacy effort on behalf of the CKW. In this first phase of the program the club is looking for support directly from the community. We are asking that people in Elizabethtown support this effort by purchasing Share the Road signs. The signs cost $100 each which includes installation by the local Department of Transportation. If you are interested, please contact Ed Poppe, the city planner. Call City Hall at (270) 765-6121 and ask for him.
We would also like to hear from all bicyclists in our community with suggestions for the placement of Share the Roads signs based on your experience and observations. Call Carmen Coyle at (270) 769-1635 to share your ideas.
