| This ride is a modification of some of the latter miles from the 100-mile OKHT ride. It incorporates several roads that contain the major climbs (e.g. Pottershop Road). Be sure to take along plenty of water for this event. There are a few store stops on the way that you may want to take advantage of, but they are early on in the ride (e.g. Bloomfield, Chaplin). |

| The first 2-3 miles are relatively flat and then it turns into rolling hills. There is a fun descent into Colesburg, but it's only a mile out of Colesburg that you'll experience one of the toughest climbs around here. Once at the top of the hill, you'll go down the other side to regain your legs. The course rolls mildly into New Haven where you'll have your first break. The second tough climb is on Cissell Hill Rd, and it's longer than the first one. Once at the top of the hill, there is rough pavement for 2.6 miles, but don't let that stop you going on this ride. From here on to Hodgenville, the route has many rolling hills -- nothing challenging.
From Hodgenville to Glendale to Etown, the ride is relatively flat with subtle rolls. |

This ride snakes through 4 counties in central Kentucky: LaRue, Taylor, Marion, and Nelson. There are plenty of rolling hills with 6 great climbs. Two to three of the climbs demand most people to stand out of the saddle. This route has plenty of stores for food/liquid breaks, and there is plenty of country-side scenery to enjoy. With the exception of possibly SR-84, traffic is at a minimum. You won't be disappointed with this ride.
Directions to starting location:
From Hodgenville, take SR-210 East toward Campbellsville. Turn left onto SR-462 and left again about 0.3 mi ahead at abandoned gas station. Drive about a mile and turn right onto SR-1511. Church is on the corner.
From Campbellsville, take SR-210 West toward Hodgenville. Turn right onto SR-462. Follow directions above. |
